Home Health Aide Home health aides perform health-oriented services prescribed for an individual by a physician. These services may include: assistance with activities of daily living (ADL), assisting with a prescribed exercise regiment, supervising the individual's adherence to prescribed medication and/or special diets, changing the non-sterile dressing, taking blood pressure, and other health monitoring activities. All aides performing services must be directly supervised by a registered nurse (RN). Each aide must have completed a home health aide or nurse aide training curriculum approved by an Area Agency on Aging and be trained for each task they perform. A registered nurse must be available for advice and consultation by telephone or otherwise at all times aides are providing services.
