Specialized Respite Care

Specialized respite care provides a brief period of rest or relief from the day-to-day care giving when the community client is either a dependent family member or primary caregiver. Either the dependent family member or the primary caregiver must be sixty (60 years of age or older. Specialized respite services provide short-term, temporary care and supervision to persons in their own homes or in out-of-home settings. Such services must be recommended by multi-purpose collaborative bodies approved by the Human Services Cabinet.
