Information & Assistance Information and referral programs assist individuals in finding and working with appropriate human service providers that can meet their needs. This service includes information-giving, i.e. listing the providers of a particular service so an individual may make their own contact directly; referral or making contact with a particular provider on behalf of an individual, brokering or negotiating with a service provider on behalf of a client, and follow-up contact to clients. Typically an information and referral service will include a local or toll free phone number for initial customer contact with an expert who has an extensive database available from which to make appropriate referrals.
